About SlopTotal

Open source since March 2026

Who builds it

SlopTotal is built by Pablo Carrasco Egea, a computer engineer from the University of Murcia, in Spain. It started in March 2026 as an open-source project, and the detector behind this site is the same code anyone can download and run: pablocaeg/sloptotal on GitHub, under the MIT licence.

Other developers send fixes and features as pull requests. Everyone who has is listed on the contributors page.

Why it exists

Most AI detectors give one number from one closed model and do not say what it was tested on. SlopTotal runs 23 open detectors, shows every score, and publishes the benchmark it is measured on, SlopBench, including where it gets things wrong. The accuracy page has the results.

How to contribute

  • Good first issues: small tasks that name the files to change. Comment on one and it is yours.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md: setup, tests, and how to add a detection engine with its measurements.
  • Propose a new engine, or report a wrong result or a bug.
  • Discussions: questions, ideas and your own results.

Releases

Every change is in the changelog, and versioned Docker images are on the releases page.
